Working to help and re-home companion animals in Sussex

Adopting

We give below some information for visitors to our site who are interested in offering a permanent home to one of the dogs in our care.

  1. We do NOT re-home dogs in our care if they will be left alone for long periods, e.g. where both adults work the same hours. We like our dogs to be left for not longer than a maximum of three to four hours on a daily basis.
  2. One of the most important points is that you have secure garden fencing.
  3. We do NOT re-home dogs in our care to families with children under five years of age.

Following your interest in adoption, we will arrange a home visit and then, providing your meet the necessary criteria, we will put you in touch with a possible dog for you to meet. This may be done by asking you to visit the "foster home" or it may be possible for a prospective pet to be met either at your home or at one of our Trustee's home.

Although we ask for a non-refundable donation when you adopt a dog of under 8 years of age, this donation is for our running costs and not for the particular dog. Our expenses are enormous and although our volunteers are unpaid, we often have older dogs that are in our care for a long time but still require veterinary help, food, etc.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please contact either Marcia Harris (01273 551815) or Chris Thornton-Clough (01273 553735).
