Fostering We are always in need of more foster homes to care for our dogs until permanent homes are found. Please see our ‘Fostering’ page for lots more information.
Other ways to help If you are unable to foster a dog but would still like to get involved, there are lots of other ways to help.We need volunteers to:
Home Check “Home checkers” visit perspective new owners in their homes prior to adopting a dog. The purpose of this is to ensure that the dog and new owner are a good “match” and to check that the garden is secure.
We always assess a dog in it’s own home before bringing them into a foster home. This enables us to gather basic information on the dog so we can decide which would be the most suitable foster home for that particular dog.
Transport We occasionally need volunteers who are able to transport dogs from their existing homes to foster homes and vet visits etc. desperate for more help to cover East Sussex in the following areas: Eastbourne, Hailsham, Heathfield, Uckfield,
Bexhill, St Leonards, Hastings and surrounding areas.
Our volunteers who home check, assess dogs and transport are an essential part of Sussex Pet Rescue so please get in touch for a friendly chat and more information. We reimburse all fuel expenses. Please call Helen on 01444 400371.
Fundraising If you feel your skills are more suited to helping us raise much needed funds, please call our wonderful fundraiser – Keren O’Mahony on 01273 725943. Keren and her fantastic team organise events such as sponsored walks, car boot sales, street collections and bric-a-brac stalls. If you would like to get involved, please contact Keren directly. We have various fundraising activities happening throughout the year. Please go to our ‘Events Diary’ page for more information.
